Eating and body image concerns can involve restriction, binge eating, food avoidance, rigid food rules, or persistent worry about appearance. This collection includes a broad Eating Disorder Test combining SCOFF and EDE-QS, a BES-based binge eating screen, and the NIAS-based ARFID questionnaire. Other tools explore more specific patterns. The body dysmorphia screen has a different focus on appearance preoccupation and related behaviors; it is not a test of attractiveness.

You do not need to look a certain way or reach a particular score for a concern to deserve attention. Choose the questionnaire that best reflects your experience, and read the explanation of what it measures. These educational screenings cannot assess your physical health, establish a diagnosis, or tell you that a behavior is safe. Results can help you describe concerns to a qualified professional, without turning food or your body into a grade.

Eating and body image tests FAQ

Which questionnaire should I choose if I am unsure?

The Eating Disorder Test offers the broadest starting point here by combining SCOFF and EDE-QS. A more specific tool may be useful when your concern is clearly about binge eating, food avoidance, or appearance preoccupation. You do not need several positive scores before discussing what you are experiencing with a professional.

Can a low score show that my eating pattern is safe?

No. Online questionnaires cannot check your physical health, nutritional needs, or medical stability. A low score does not rule out a concern, and body size is not a reliable way to decide whether someone needs help. Discuss ongoing difficulties or worrying physical changes with a qualified health professional.

Are ARFID and body dysmorphia the same as other eating concerns?

These tools ask different questions. The ARFID screen explores food avoidance related to sensory sensitivity, appetite, or feared consequences. The body dysmorphia screen focuses on appearance preoccupation and its impact. BDD is not an eating disorder, and neither questionnaire should be interpreted as a general measure of body image or food habits.

What if I feel medically unwell or in crisis?

A test should not delay medical help. If you are facing a medical emergency or immediate danger, contact local emergency services. In the US, call or text 988 for suicidal thoughts or emotional crisis. For ongoing eating or body concerns, seek a qualified professional even if your screening score is low.
