About me

Having practiced Zen meditation for fifty years, the Psychology of Selves (similar to IFS) for thirty years, and Byron Katie work for a decade, along with plant medicine journeys, I have dived to the depth of what it means to be human - and well beyond. I offer that fearlessness, optimism, and faith in those profound paths, to my clients.

More background

What would be important for someone to know about working with you?

I work from an open heart and open mind. Compassion and tuning in are essential - as are powerful, pragmatic paths and tools I offer clients so that change can occur as quickly as they are ready for. I give everything a client could want in the way of helping work through obstacles and attaining the greatest heights they desire.

In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?

Having practiced Zen meditation for fifty years, the Psychology of Selves (similar to IFS) for thirty years, and Byron Katie work for a decade, along with plant medicine journeys, I have dived to the depth of what it means to be human - and well beyond. I offer that fearlessness, optimism, and faith in those profound paths, to my clients.

What does success look like in therapy? How will a client know that they are making progress?

When we start, I invite clients to list their goals and rate how far towards achieving them that they are. I also ask what indications will tell them they are progressing and what will tell them they have succeeded. We then regularly check those ratings and indications to see how far along they are - and when have they achieved success in their terms. Success is when the client feels complete - or satisfied enough to move on to other endeavors.

Work history

I have had a private practice in individual, couples, family, and group therapy for forty years. First in Westport, CT, then Park Slope & Manhattan, NYC, then San Francisco and Mill Valley, CA, now on Martha's Vineyard and mostly on-line. I have treated Zen masters, Silicon Valley CEO's, doctors, famous writers and actors and thousands of couples and individuals.
